‘Aging In Stillness’
Aging in Stillness explores aging through the lens of wabi-sabi.
Entering her 40s, Sanae experienced physical and emotional shifts, moving from uncertainty toward quiet confidence. Inspired by pottery and natural materials, the works use restrained tones, subtle layers, and intentional irregularities to evoke the texture of time.
Like an antique object whose wear becomes its beauty, the collection reflects on aging as another way of becoming beautiful.
侘び寂びの視点から「歳を重ねること」を見つめたコレクションです。
40代に入り、身体や心の変化に戸惑いながらも、やがて静かな自信へと移りゆく過程が作品に映し出されています。陶器や自然素材に着想を得た、抑えた色調とさりげない層やゆらぎが、時間の質感を表しています。
使い込まれた古物が美しさを増すように、この作品群は、歳を重ねることをもう一つの美しさとして捉え直します。

The limited edition “Potters” series is painted on oyster-coloured canvases, exploring the rich textures and flowing glazes of ceramics brought to life through subtle tones.
Take a closer look - each piece is a unique fusion of traditional pottery techniques inspired by “Mentori” (facet cutting) and modern abstraction. With their subtle colours and textures, these works reveal their full beauty up close and from different angles.

The “Potters” series is inspired by the work of exceptional ceramic artists and the surfaces they create through their deep understanding of materials, glazes, and the unpredictability of firing.
Sanae was drawn to the way intentional composition and chance come together in pottery — where layers, colour, texture, and irregularities are shaped as much by the artist as by the process itself. The works explore this balance through rich textures, restrained colour, and organic surfaces.
Like a ceramic piece whose beauty emerges through both control and chance, the collection reflects on the imperfect beauty at the heart of wabi-sabi.
